Hockey Night in Canada? More like Hockey Weekend in Brockville! From February 16th-18th, come join in on the fun during the Brockville Winter Classic Weekend! This long weekend is jam packed with family fun activities, including a family skate, New York Rangers Alumni game, live music, games and so much more! If you’re looking for something fun to do on Family Day weekend, make your way to Brockville for these exciting winter events and activities! We’ve done our best to round up the details on each Winter Classic event over the weekend, to help plan your weekend out!
Friday February 16
Winter Classic Dinner, Draft Lottery, and Auction
To kick the weekend off, head on over to the Keystorm Pub at 7:00pm for the Winter Classic Dinner! There will also be a draft lottery, and an auction, plus live music! The Stavens will perform at 9:00pm, so don’t forget your dancing shoes!
Saturday February 17
Party in the Parkette
Celebrate the Winter Classic Weekend with games and activities downtown! Free hot chocolate, live music, activities and games await! Join in on the party from 10:30am-2:30pm at the John Street Parkette, on the corner of John Street and King Street.
Mini Sticks at the Library
Warm up indoors and play some mini sticks at the library! Feel free to bring your stick if you have one, plus there a prizes to be won! Drop in from 1:00pm-3:00pm at the Brockville Public Library.
Winter Classic Local Heroes Tournament
There is a great lineup of teams playing in the tournament this year, which will go from 10:00am-4:00pm. You can find the complete schedule here!
Winter Classic Party at the Keystorm Pub
After an action packed day outdoors, enjoy a meal and a drink with friends and family at the Winter Classic Party! Healy and Orr will perform at 9:00pm, so make sure to stay for some great tunes from this popular local band!
Sunday February 18
New York Rangers Legends vs. Canadian Tire All-Stars
The New York Rangers alumni tour, presented by Bill & Catherine Deplaedt (Canadian Tire Brockville & Prescott), will take place at the Brockville Memorial Centre at 1:00pm. Watch local celebrities – the Canadian Tire All Stars – face off against hockey legends, with all proceeds going to Rotary Park!
Monday February 19
Kingston Knights vs. Ottawa Sledge Hockey Game
Come down to Rotary Park from 9:00am to 10:30am to check out a sledge hockey game between Kingston Knights and Ottawa Sledge Hockey teams! After the game you can try the sport out for yourself! (Time will be limited; chances to try sledge hockey may be determined through a contest)
RBC Family Day Skate
Join RBC Royal Bank of Canada on Family day for a free public skate, with music and food! Celebrate family and enjoy the wonderful community Rotary Park facility from 11:00am-2:00pm. You may want to come back for a skate every weekend!
After a fun skate with the family, why not head down to the museum and let your artistic side out! The Brockville Museum is partnering up with Culture Days to offer snow sculpting from 10:30am-4:00pm on Family Day. Don’t worry, there’s no experience required! Get thinking now on what you’d like to create!
Events and activities are FREE, excluding the New York Rangers Alumni game and VIP experience.
To date the Winter Classic has raised $143,718.00 towards the Rotary Park project through various events along with a successful Kraft Hockeyville bid in 2016. In 2017, the #raisetheroof campaign was a success, and a roof was installed over the rink at Rotary Park! The Winter Classic Committee has plans for the future to continue to develop and enhance Rotary Park, so stay tuned!
