Back by popular demand, Brockville’s Island Breakfast hosted on Refugee Island announced today that tickets are now on sale for the event which will take place June 22-25 inclusive, rain or shine.
Over 35 companies and individuals have stepped up to be sponsors of this legacy project which will result in a permanent Picnic Pavilion (artistic rendering shown below) to be built on the south end of the island, accompanied by a plaque featuring community and corporate sponsors.
Now in its third year, Island Breakfast has been enjoyed by the local community and tourists alike, giving those who could not otherwise experience island life, the chance to do so.
“I am thrilled with the support this event has experienced over the past three years, and we are almost one third of the way in reaching our fund raising goal,” said Dave Beatty, Chair of the Island Breakfast Committee. “The tourism office is already receiving calls from those seeking tickets.”
Tickets are now on sale at the Brockville Tourism Office (Market Street) at a price of $12.00 per person or $25 for a family of four. Island breakfast merchandise and donation jars are also available for those interested in contributing in an additional way beyond the purchase of a breakfast ticket.
Boats will depart continuously from the foot of St. Lawrence Park each morning of the event (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) starting at 7:30 a.m. with the last breakfast being served at 10:00 a.m. on Refugee Island. Golf carts will be available to transport those who require assistance to the docks. For those with their own watercraft, tickets will be sold on the island. Breakfast will feature bacon, eggs, sausage, toast, beans, pancakes, camp coffee, juice and local strawberries.
Island Breakfast is made possible through over 170 volunteers and sponsors. For more information, call 613-342-4357 or visit the website at www.refugeeislandbreakfast.com
