Scantily Clad

Youth Opportunities in the Arts production of ” Scantily Clad” an original, fun loving Musical Melodrama written by the local creative team of Howard Alexander and Deborah Dunleavy.

This fun filled musical melodrama is set in a small community like Brockville, in 1930 – on the cusp of the Great Depression and smack dab in the middle of the prohibition era in the United States. The production, importation and transportation of alcohol in the U.S. is strictly illegal.

Enterprising individuals living on the Canadian side of the St. Lawrence River know that if they make the liquor, there is a ready made demand on the other side of the border.

Someone in town has an illegal still and everyone wants to find it, including a dastardly villain and his bumbling sidekicks; a resourceful young lady with her dedicated girlfriends; a less than brilliant officer-of-the-law and a dedicated campaigner for the elimination of booze in the community, who is accompanied by her stumbling sidekick, a “man of the cloth”.

This is a fast paced, lighthearted romp for all ages, that highlights a variety of creative and fun musical numbers and dance routines. It will have you smiling, laughing and tapping your toes.

Led by an engaging Newsie, our troupe of performers in their teens and twenties, will have you BOOING, HISSING AND CHEERING as they strive to find the illegal still hidden somewhere in their community.
