Join us monthly for a 45 minute presentation on Brockville’s social and industrial history. We’ll explore Brockville’s most unique stories through the archival images and objects in the museum’s collection. $5.31/person +HST ($6.00).

Advance reservations are recommended as capacity is limited. If you would like to reserve your seat in advance, please contact the museum by phone (613-342-4397) or drop by during business hours. A non-refundable (unless canceled by the museum) payment of $5.31 + HST ($6) is required at time of booking. Credit card payment can be made over the phone. Reservations can only be made for the upcoming History Talk (for example, we will only accept reservations for the May History Talk after the April History Talk).

History Talks can also be delivered as a private program for groups at a time and location convenient to you for as little as $40. Please review our Group Tours for details.

May 14th: Nursing Schools in Brockville
A look back at the many nursing schools based in Brockville, including objects and stories from the Brockville General Hospital, St. Vincent de Paul Hospital, and the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital schools.

June 11th: An Overview of Smarts Manufacturing
A look back at one of Brockville’s leading industries, showcasing several objects from Smarts manufacturing in the museum collection.

July 9th: A Look at Former Brockville Hotels
A historical overview of Brockville’s downtown hotels, including stories and objects from the Manitonna Hotel, Revere Hotel and others.

August 13th: Royal Visits to Brockville
A nostalgic look back at some of the memorable visits to Brockville by members of the Royal Family.

September 10th: The Development of Brockville’s Local Government
A look back at the formation and evolution of Brockville’s municipal government from 1832 to 1982.

October 8th: A Hidden Part of Our History – British Home Children, presented by guest speaker, Carolyn Thompson Goddard 
Goddard is a British Home Child descendant and the president of the Ontario East British Home Child organization. She will provide an overview of the child migration scheme, how British Home Children arrived in Canada, and other particulars about their story.

November 12th: Three Brockville Soldiers (WWI)
Stories and objects from the lives of three Brockville soldiers who fought in the First World War: Frederick Curry, Thain MacDowell, and Tolford Murray.

December 10th: Commercial Pharmacies in Brockville
A look back at some of the commercial pharmacies in Brockville, including Curry’s Drug Store, Fullerton Drug Store, and others.
