Cruise the 1000 Islands

Did you know 1000 Islands & Seaway Cruises was selected as one of the 10 best boat tours in Canada in 2017 by The Culture Trip? We love seeing anything from Brockville make it into a top 10 list, and our local cruise line is certainly deserving of this designation. No visit to the 1000 Islands is complete without getting out on the water by boat, and a cruise of this iconic region is the best way to see and learn as much as possible.

“Boat tours are an excellent way to experience Canada, as it’s home to many stunning lakes and has the world’s longest coastline. Tours around the country can take visitors to see whales, puffins, icebergs, fjords, waterfalls, and so much more. Here are 10 of the best boat tours in Canada.”

Hike, Bike or Run the Brock Trail

Perfect for cycling and walking, this gorgeous multi-use trail winds its way along the waterfront and through the city all the way up to Mac Johnson Wildlife Centre where it ends. The paths are fully paved, making it accessible for wheelchairs, scooters, baby carriages, strollers, bikes, trikes and roller blades. It is considered an easy-moderate trail by the Frontenac Arch Biosphere and is family friendly. Dogs must remain on-leash at all times!

Picnic in the Park

Brockville’s most eastern park along the St.Lawrence River, Centeen Park is a playground for those who love to be in the water. Centeen Park is well equipped for those who are learning to scuba dive, with changing stations and an easy-to-access stairway into the river. It is also the home to the Brockville Underwater Sculpture Park, a unique scuba diving training experience with dozens of statues available to explore. Filled with big shady trees and a beautiful path along the waterfront, Hardy Park is a wonderful place to bring a picnic and spend an afternoon. The gazebo hosts live music often through the summer, and many groups use Hardy Park as the home to their festivals, such as the Big Brothers Big Sisters annual Ribfest in August. The accessible washrooms and play structure makes Hardy Park a popular destination for families with young children. St. Lawrence Park has a beautiful safe sandy beach ideal for children which is supervised during the summer period. Washrooms, change rooms, and a canteen are in operation from June through to September. A canoe and kayak launching area is available at the western edge of the park.
