Having Fun Through March Break 2020

March Break is quickly coming up, and we wanted to shine a light on three camps taking place that will fill your kids days with fun and excitement.

The Aquatarium’s March Break Camp

This camp is already sold out, but there is a waiting list!

From March 16-20, your kids can enjoy a week of discovery through the unique themed days throughout the week! There will be hands on activities, creative crafts, exciting experiments, and lots of fun experiences.

Monday: Winter Wonderland
Tuesday: Mad Scientist
Wednesday: All About Animals
Thursday: STEAM Powered
Friday: Otterly Amazing

If you can’t make if tor the full camp, be sure to reach out to the Aquatarium to see if there are any availabilities for single day registrants.

Camp runs from 9am – 4pm each day. Before and after care is available as well for an additional fee of $5 a day. There is also a partnership with Moose McGuires to offer an optional hot lunch program for an additional $25+HST for the week.

The Aquatarium camp is $170 for the week or $40 for the day. Inquiries about availability can be sent to adumbrille@aquatarium.ca or through the Aquatarium’s website.

Frontenac Arch Biosphere Nature Camp – Mac Johnson

If your kids are more into nature, then maybe check out the March Break camps through the Frontenac Arch Biosphere at Mac Johnson!

While the Monday is sold out, there are still a few spots remaining for Tuesday-Friday (as of Monday, March 9th.) Each of the sessions have their own theme as well, so you can pick and choose which ones spark your interest! Each day costs $30 to register.

Tuesday, March 17 – Tracks and Scat

If your child likes to solve mysteries and find hidden treasures, this camp is for them! Winter is a great time to find clues about the forest. The snow lets people see the tracks of the local animals, and where they’re going. Follow tracks on a great Animal Scavenger Hunt, complete with prizes and special treats.

Wednesday, March 18 – Winter Travel

Bring a cardboard box or two and put your creativity to the test as you build your own toboggans. You’ll also get to experiment with the best ways to travel through the snowy trails in the winter, using the snowshoes, toboggans and skis.

Thursday, March 19 – Winter Camping

Did you know winter camping is a real thing? This day will be packed with adventure, using compasses to navigate trails, setting up a real campsite, enjoying a cookout and building your own shelters. Learn about what works best for insulation and how to stay dry. You’re also welcome to bring a food that can be cooked on the fire, or something warm that can be enjoyed outside.

Friday, March 20 – Spring and Things

Spring is just around the corner! Ice and snow are melting, and you might even get to see some bugs moving around. It isn’t too long until the birds will return home and be chirping along. Investigate what causes all these changes and how this affects the forests, ponds and fields in Mac Johnson. Weather permitting, you’ll go bug collecting and make a bee hotel that can attract the pollinators to your garden. You can even start your own greenhouse!
