How to Visit an Island in Brockville

As the city of the 1000 Islands, Brockville has many islands to visit along the St.Lawrence River. We are very lucky that the city of Brockville owns and manages a series of islands along the eastern end of the 1000 Islands, and they have been maintained for the public’s enjoyment.

But how exactly does one get to visit one of the world famous 1000 islands? There are a few options available:

Boat / Canoe / Kayak to an Island

If you are lucky enough to own a boat, canoe or kayak, getting to an island is quite easy. Brockville has 6 paddle in/paddle out sites on the islands, and canoes and kayaks can be beached or placed on the campsite if you are camping overnight. As well, every island has docking for boats. The costs to dock your boat or beach your canoe or kayak can be found here.

A canoe or a single kayak is $35 a day, $132 for a week, or $528 for the month. A double kayak is $40 a day, $160 for the week, or $610 for the month. Both these rentals require a $100 rental security deposit that is returned so long as there are no damages.

Water Taxi to an Island

Maybe you’re not the type to get into a canoe or a kayak. You’ve got your reasons, but that’s no reason you can’t still visit an island during your trip to Brockville! Dive Brockville Adventure Centre also has a water taxi service! You can go for just a few short hours, or you can camp overnight on the islands – it’s all up to you!

A trip out and return to one island is:

  • 2 to 4 people – $40 each
  • 5 to 6 people – $35 each
  • 7 to 12 people – $30 each

If you’re going for just a lunch, you can add a picnic too! For just $15 extra each, you can have fish and chips or English tea (scones, jam and clotted cream) to bring with you to the island!

Pack a picnic or have one brought for you, there are many ways to enjoy the 1000 Islands beyond seeing them from the shore! Make sure you check out these options throughout the summer.
